Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is looking for a Working Site Manager in Wakefield for fast track refurbishment projects. The ideal candidate will manage projects from start to finish while ensuring Health and Safety compliance. Required qualifications include SMSTS or SSSTS certifications, a CSCS Black or Gold Card, and relevant hands-on experience. Remuneration is up to £250 per day depending on experience. This is a temporary role expected to last approximately 6 weeks.

Qualifications

  • Certification in SMSTS or SSSTS is required.
  • Experience with CSCS Black or Gold Card is necessary.
  • Asbestos Awareness and First Aid certifications needed.
  • Previous experience in fast track interior fit-out or refurbishment roles is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project on site for refurbishment and fit-out.
  • Oversee the build program and ensure timeline compliance.
  • Maintain effective communication among subcontractors.
  • Ensure Health and Safety regulations are followed.
  • Run project day-to-day with Contracts Manager assistance.

Overview

Working Site Manager - Fast Track Refurbishment, Retail & Restaurant Fit Out. Main Contractor. Refurbishment / Interior Fit Out. Wakefield, Leeds. Freelance / Temporary Role. 6 weeks approx.

Responsibilities
  • Managing the project on site.
  • Managing the build program.
  • Some inductions if required.
  • Managing Health and Safety.
  • Working closely with all sub-contractors to ensure projects finish on time.
  • Liaising on all levels to ensure effective communication is always maintained.
  • Running the project on a day-to-day basis with the assistance of a visiting Contracts Manager; delivering the project from inception to completion.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • SMSTS or SSSTS.
  • CSCS Black or Gold Card.
  • Asbestos Awareness and First Aid certificates.
  • Hands-on, hands-on role; a joinery background would be beneficial.
  • Self-motivated, autonomous, able to drive subcontractors.
  • Previous experience managing fast track interior fit out or refurbishment sites within the leisure and hospitality sectors is beneficial.
Project Details
  • Project start: 11 September 2025.
  • Duration: minimum 6 weeks, with potential for a similar follow-on project in Sheffield city centre (6–8 weeks).
Remuneration

Dependent upon experience, up to £250 per day DOE.
