What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of Nordex wind turbines for Nordex Energy Ireland, based at Yellow River windfarm. You will carry out general and specialized work including repairs, troubleshooting and fault-finding activities. Our goal is to achieve a high level of availability for the running of the turbines.

  • On-site performance analysis and action plan implementation
  • Working closely with Technicians and Back Office staff to perform on-the-job demonstrations
  • Supporting on-site single turbine improvements on problem turbines
  • Providing on-site software & hardware updates
  • Supporting online and on-phone technical support
  • Creating reports on turbine or turbine components
  • Parameter disabling and alarm change handling when necessary
Working hours and overtime

Core hours are 40 per week (Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm). If there is a problem with a wind turbine at the end of your shift you may be asked to stay and work overtime to get it fixed. You will be available for breakdowns and faults at the weekend and will work on-call every 2nd or 3rd weekend (depending on team size). Overtime is paid at time and a half, with additional payment for the weekend you are on-call.

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have experience in the Mechanical / Electrical industry and be able to demonstrate knowledge of reading electrical, hydraulic and mechanical diagrams. You will be Mechanical or Electrical trained through time-served or a technical college qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).

You will be able to demonstrate your ability to identify and define problems, extract crucial information from technical data, and develop workable solutions in a changing environment. A positive attitude and willingness to learn, lead and improve are essential.

You are computer literate and confident in using MS Office, and in hour databases and workload management systems; bonus points if you have used SAP.

This role involves working at heights, up to 100m. You will need to be fit and pass a working-at-height test.

You will be required to travel regularly which includes nights away from home. A full UK / EU Driving Licence is required for this role.

What we can offer you
  • Time Off 33 days including bank holidays. After two years continual service you are entitled to an additional day’s holiday per annum (maximum 5 days), plus an extra day off for your birthday
  • Health & Wellbeing Employee Assistance Programme (therapy sessions), Bike2Work Scheme, Paid Eye tests & contribution towards glasses, Company Sick pay, Private Healthcare via salary sacrifice

  • Nordex reimburse the cost of one annual professional subscription to one relevant professional institution
  • Long Service Awards at 5, 10, 15+ years
  • Flexible working hours and hybrid working arrangements
