Apricus Resourcing is currently looking for enthusiastic, dynamic and adaptable Full or Part‑Time Community Hybrid “Work From Home” Safeguarding or Learning Disabilities Team Registered Social Workers (Band 5‑6) for a well‑respected specialist non‑public social service based in the N22 postal code area of Haringey, North London. Any mileage or travel expenses incurred while on shift will be compensated. We are recruiting for the following roles:

Safeguarding Social Worker

Supporting clients out of base at N22 Post Code Area of Haringey minimum of 2 days a week; the rest can be worked from home. The role is ideally full time with standard hours 37 hours weekly Monday‑Friday (9 am‑5 pm), though a part‑time option may be considered. This is a fixed‑term contract (minimum 3 months up to 12 months).

You will play a crucial role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and older people.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a multi‑disciplinary assessment service including Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants and Surveyors, and collaborate with local health trusts to ensure the holistic needs of service users are met.
  • Obtain and record all relevant information, taking appropriate action where necessary, and provide practical day‑to‑day support which may involve home visits and direct work within the family home or community.
  • Work closely with families, carers and other professionals to assess needs, develop care plans, and provide ongoing support.
  • Assist in safeguarding processes and Children’s Services procedures, including relevant legislation and guidance.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Excellent understanding of the legislation relevant to the role – Care Act, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Human Rights Act, Equality Act – and ability to work in accordance with legislative principles and guidance.
  • Extensive experience in working with vulnerable children and young people in a support/advisory role. Knowledgeable in safeguarding and Children’s Services processes and legislation.

In return for your commitment, if paid via our agency we offer a competitive rate of payment of £30.52 per hour.

Learning Disabilities Social Worker

Supporting clients out of base at N22 Post Code Area of Haringey minimum of 2 days a week; the rest can be worked from home. The role is ideally full time with standard hours 37 hours weekly Monday‑Friday (9 am‑5 pm), part‑time option may be considered. This is a fixed‑term contract (minimum 3 months up to 12 months).

Main duties

  • Take responsibility for a suitable caseload and develop experience and competency across a range of duties, with opportunity to progress to the next grade when progression requirements are met.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with service users, families, carers and communities to help them make informed decisions and contribute to person‑centred and strengths‑based service planning.
  • Work effectively within legal, policy and financial frameworks, obligations, structures and culture – Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, Human Rights and Equality legislation and accompanying guidance and codes of practice.
  • Construct and implement care packages clearly linked to client needs, working creatively with community and voluntary organisations to maximise independence, minimise risks and improve quality of life for service users.
  • Be responsible for the assessment and safe discharge of service users from hospital back into community settings, working within challenging timeframes and reducing risk of future readmission.
  • Undertake Care Act assessments and Section 42 enquiries through the safeguarding process, identifying risks, needs, and options, including self‑directed support options.
  • Undertake Mental Capacity assessments for service users where it is deemed that they may lack the mental capacity to make a specific decision.
  • Intervene in emergency situations to protect vulnerable adults and children and initiate the appropriate statutory or other actions required.
  • Participate in office duty on a rota basis, responding to new referrals, assessing urgency and implementing actions to meet immediate needs.
  • Fully participate in individual supervision and performance appraisal, and participate in the development and implementation of performance indicators and quality service standards, always striving for improved performance both personally and as a service.
