We are excited to offer the opportunity to an exceptional candidate to join our dedicated pastoral team at Monks Coppenhall Academy and Nursery as a Wellbeing Mentor/Nurture Lead. This pivotal role will complement our existing support network which includes a full-time Family Link Worker, a Behaviour Mentor, a part-time Art-Based Therapy Practitioner and a team of Teaching Assistants delivering emotional literacy sessions.

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Support SEMH Needs: Demonstrate experience in addressing social emotional and mental health (SEMH) barriers that impact a child's ability to access the curriculum.
  • Address School Avoidance: Understand the underlying causes of emotionally-based school avoidance and implement effective solutions.
  • Be Trauma-Informed: Utilise trauma-informed practices and attachment-aware strategies to provide a safe supportive environment for our pupils.
  • Deliver Targeted Interventions: Lead small-group and 1:1 sessions delivering evidence-based programmes such as ELSA and My Happy Mind.
  • Collaborate on Safeguarding: Undertake duties delegated by the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and utilise screening tools (e.g. Erase Contextual Safeguarding and Neglect).
  • Use Wellbeing Assessment Tools: Administer and utilise emotional literacy and wellbeing assessments for individuals and groups of children (e.g. SDQs Me and My Feelings questionnaire and Southampton/GL Emotional Literacy Assessment).
  • Collaborate with and refer to external agencies: consult with external agencies such as the Mental Health Support Team or CLASP to complete referrals and implement any advice as necessary.
  • Build Strong Relationships: Create social stories and foster respectful positive connections with children, parents and colleagues including gathering the Voice of the Child where appropriate.
