Locations : Stevenage & Hemel Hempstead

Salary : Equivalent to NHS Band 5

Employment : Full-time, across two sites

About the Role

We’re recruiting a Welfare & Safeguarding Officer to join a diverse, fast‑paced service supporting vulnerable adults across two locations. This role is central to promoting wellbeing, protecting individuals at risk, and ensuring our sites remain safe, supportive places to live.

You will work directly with Service Users, internal teams, and external partners to identify risks, elevate safeguarding concerns appropriately, and contribute to a culture of dignity, respect and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out regular welfare checks and record concerns accurately.
  • Identify safeguarding risks and raise them in line with policy.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, the Local Authority, NHS and voluntary agencies.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with Service Users from diverse backgrounds.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive environment across both sites.
  • Maintain accurate, timely safeguarding and welfare documentation.
What We’re Looking For
  • Hands‑on safeguarding experience (children and/or adults at risk).
  • Confidence in recognising, reporting and escalating safeguarding concerns.
  • Calm, professional and empathetic approach in challenging situations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, fast‑paced setting.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
