American Hydro is a leader in the hydroelectric industry, specializing in the supply and installation of large equipment. We are currently seeking a Welder to join our team at the York, PA facility. Job Description

The Welder will join the team to fabricate and repair metal components, utilizing various welding techniques. Responsibilities include assembling and repairing metal parts using high-heat machinery, setting up components according to specifications, and ensuring quality standards are met.

Accountabilities:

  • Weld complex geometries and components for hydroelectric equipment
  • Qualified in SMAW and FCAW welding processes
  • Set up jobs and equipment for efficient operation
  • Perform carbon arc gouging on CJP welds
  • Grind as needed to meet quality standards
  • Maintain high quality of work and productivity
  • Demonstrate job knowledge, initiative, safety, attendance, communication, and cooperation

Main Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints, excluding geometric tolerancing
  • Proficient with FCAW and SMAW, setting parameters for optimal operation
  • Produce high-quality welds and grind parts as per drawings and instructions
  • Operate gas cutting and air arc gouging equipment
  • Weld using larger wire sizes when necessary
  • Keep work area and equipment clean and organized
  • Report issues regarding work, safety, or schedule to supervisor
  • Operate jib cranes and forklifts for positioning weldments
  • Set up rolls and positioners for assembling smaller weldments

Working Hours:

  • 2nd shift: 2:30pm - 10:30pm

Qualifications

Education:

Associate’s degree or equivalent from a technical school, or a minimum of 3 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
