About the role
We are looking for a Water Network Engineer to support the delivery of capital projects across our water distribution and trunk mains network. This is a specialist, hands‑on role working closely with Project Managers, suppliers and operational teams to ensure projects are designed, planned and delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with Affinity Water standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers on capital delivery schemes involving distribution mains and trunk mains.
- Attend and contribute to design review meetings, reviewing designs, connections and construction sequencing.
- Assess how areas are fed and supplied during works to minimise risk to customers and water quality.
- Request hydraulic models to be run, interpret model outputs and use findings to inform delivery decisions.
- Prepare, review and approve RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements), ensuring they are site‑specific and fit for purpose.
- Submit Network RAMS and outage requests through relevant systems and portals.
- Undertake regular site visits, identifying issues early and resolving problems collaboratively.
- Use GIS systems to review asset information and support on‑site problem‑solving.
- Liaise with internal teams and the supply chain to ensure work is delivered safely, compliantly and efficiently.
- Support commissioning and handover of new assets into operational service.
Qualifications
- Proven experience reading and writing RAMS, including tailored, site‑specific RAMS.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and general Office applications.
- Confident using CRM systems, online portals and digital workflows.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, designs and documentation.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with a proactive, delivery‑focused mindset.
- Willingness to work on‑site regularly and engage directly with delivery teams.
- Full clean driver’s licence.
Desirable
- Experience within the water industry.
- Understanding of water quality risks and controls.
- Engineering or project delivery background.
- Experience interpreting hydraulic models (training and development will be provided).
Benefits
- Salary: £50,000 – £58,000 (dependant on skills and experience).
- Hours of work: 8.30am–5.00pm (Mon–Thu) and 8.30am–4.30pm (Fri).
