Pat Munro is recruiting a Waste and Recycling Plant Operator or Trainee to join its Materials Recycling Facility based at Caplich Quarry, Alness, supporting operations across Alness and Inverness.

As a Waste and Recycling Plant Operator or Trainee, you will support the safe, efficient, and compliant processing of a range of waste streams across Pat Munro’s waste transfer operations. The role involves working with mobile plant equipment including loading shovels, telehandlers, and on-site skip lorries, alongside waste sorting, recycling, and general site operations.
You will assist the Site Operations Supervisor and Operations Manager, help maintain high housekeeping standards across licensed areas and sheds, and carry out routine inspections and basic maintenance checks on machinery.
The role also includes supporting recycling services at local events, which may involve occasional weekend working. As the role is split between sites in Alness and Inverness, a full UK driving licence is essential.
Pat Munro is looking for someone who is reliable, team-focused, and motivated, with a strong work ethic and a positive approach to learning. Previous plant experience is desirable but not essential, as full training and required certifications will be provided.
You should have good communication skills, be flexible in your approach to work, and take pride in representing the company professionally. A willingness to support colleagues and undertake tasks outside core duties when required is important.
This is a permanent position with a guaranteed minimum of 39 hours per week and six weeks of annual leave per year.
Remuneration is dependent on experience.
