Overview

Warehouse Operator – Stoke on Trent, Full Time. Job Req Number: 100796.

At DSV we're building the world’s leading logistics and transport network. We are growing and recruiting for Warehouse Operators to join our team. The role involves facilitating inbound and outbound shipments, unloading, receiving, checking, wrapping and put-away, and performing other warehouse operations in line with operational and health and safety procedures.

Operate in a methodical and tidy manner, follow standard operating procedures, and apply an understanding of material/stock management techniques and inventory control methods. Reporting to the Supervisor, the Warehouse Operator manages daily warehousing operations including receiving, put away, inventory, picking, packing and delivery of stock items, and operating manual handling equipment as required, while minimizing losses and damages and maintaining high accuracy and safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Handle goods in vehicles/containers to prepare for replenishment.
  • Pick and pack products, including unboxing, labeling, re-boxing and stacking on pallets.
  • Carry out tasks related to goods being returned (unloading vehicles, sorting returns, putting stock away).
  • Ensure quality and accuracy during operations.
  • Perform quality audits and checks on products or storage locations as required.
  • Maintain stock integrity through correct stock and system movements.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably required consistent with training and experience.
  • Adhere to health and safety requirements, including warehouse procedures, PPE and housekeeping.
  • Complete pre- and post-use inspections on workplace transport and report any malfunctions or damage to ensure safe operation.

  • Understand and comply with Company rules, policies, procedures and relevant legislation and codes of practice.
  • Treat Company information as confidential and protect it from disclosure.
  • Act professionally, maintain good working relationships, and promote a positive image of the Company.
  • Maintain and comply with Health, Safety and Environmental standards, and support the Occupational Health & Safety Management System and ISO quality standards where applicable.
  • Ensure a high standard of housekeeping and keep work areas secure when unoccupied.
  • Challenge and determine reasons for unauthorised presence on site when appropriate.
  • Attend development training as required in line with the company’s Investors in People commitments.
Skills and Competencies
  • 2 GCSEs in maths and English (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to identify and challenge health and safety failures.
  • Proactive in suggesting improvements to procedures.
  • Relevant workplace transport qualifications; experience using counterbalance and reach trucks (if applicable).
  • Understanding of basic health and safety principles.
  • Good spoken and written English; ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to plan and manage own time.
  • Own transport (preferred).
