Job description
Overview

The role is to manage a 14 bedded children's ward with a focus on gastroenterology. You will be expected to share both clinical and managerial skills in this role. We are looking for an individual with previous gastroenterology experience who is looking to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable paediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal failure and other relevant conditions.

Responsibilities
  • The role involves safeguarding work and working closely with both the multi-disciplinary clinical teams and the children's hospital senior management team.
  • Provide expert clinical leadership at ward level, setting and delivering high standards of clinical care.
  • Provide 24 hour accountability for the overall management of the ward and the delivery of nursing care.
  • Responsible for the management, deployment and supervision of nursing and associated staff and the management of the budget.
  • To lead the development of ward nursing practice and standards of care.
  • Responsible for the education of patients and staff.
  • Provide an element of co-ordination of the discharge of complex, long-term patients, delegating appropriate tasks to the relevant members of the team.
