Job Overview

Role Summary

An opportunity has arisen for a full‑time or part‑time ward clerk on the new Dove ward. The post holder will work closely with the nursing team, provide effective administrative support to the unit, and demonstrate the Trust’s behaviours and values. The role is busy and varied and the duties include general administrative tasks, management of care records systems and supporting the day‑to‑day running of the unit. Excellent competence in Microsoft Office, the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. This role is NOT eligible for sponsorship; you must have the right to work in the UK. If you hold a graduate visa, you must have at least 12 months left before expiry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive professional administrative support to the inpatient unit.
  • Act as the first point of reference for service users, relatives, colleagues and visitors.
  • Work independently, applying initiative and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Undertake non‑routine duties without direct supervision, working within broad procedural guidelines.
  • Deliver a high standard of care to service users.
  • Be involved in and committed to improving the service users’ experience.
  • Be professional, caring, compassionate, competent, reliable and dependable in undertaking allocated responsibilities.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Good standard of education to secondary level.
  • Strong experience of working in an office environment.
  • NVQ3/RSA3 or equivalent experience.
  • Good knowledge of all Microsoft packages.
Desirable Criteria
  • Advanced IT skills, Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
  • Maintain a filing system, both paper and computerised systems.
  • PARIS (Patient Electronic Records) experience.
  • Advanced keyboard skills.
  • Car driver (unless a disability under the Equality Act 2010 prevents driving).
  • Potential candidates with a Skilled Worker visa may determine their sponsorship eligibility via the GOV.UK visa checker.
