Overview

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed individual to our team on the Day Surgery Unit at Furness General Hospital. The position covers the ward Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16:00.

Our team prides themselves on exceeding the expectations of our patients and their families and work closely as a team to support each other in everyday work.

Responsibilities

• Provide a warm and welcoming approach to all patients, staff and visitors attending the ward.
• Take leadership in the management and organisation of patient records, admissions, transfers and discharges using the appropriate IT systems.
• Be able to deal with sensitive, confidential information in an appropriate manner and respond to ward requests from ward staff, delivering to other parts of the hospital.
• Liaise with the senior nurse in charge and provide a welcoming approach to all visitors to the unit.
• Work with minimal supervision, providing administrative support to the ward team.

About our locations

We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal. We also work with a number of community health premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI offer General Hospital services with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides General Hospital services along with an Urgent Treatment Centre for non-life-threatening conditions. All three main hospitals offer planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery, with additional local outreach services and diagnostics from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
