Job description
Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and organised individual to join our Ward Clerk team within the Surgical Directorate at Wansbeck General Hospital. The post holder will provide an efficient and effective reception Service for our patients and staff. This post is a 12 months fixed term position, working 3 days per week, Wed-Fri from 07:30-15:30. On occasion, it may be necessary to cover Trust wide for service needs.

Responsibilities
  • To provide a competent and efficient reception service, acting as first point of contact on the telephone or face to face, for patients, visitors and other healthcare professionals.
  • To input data regarding all admissions, transfers and discharges onto Patient Administration System correctly.
  • To facilitate good communication with other wards and departments involved in patient care or ward/departmental functioning.
  • Respond to telephone and email queries in a time appropriate manner.
  • To work as a team member within the Ward Clerk team, with guidance from colleagues and the team lead as required.
