Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a permanent part time Ward Administrator based at The Landermere Centre, Clacton on Sea.

We are looking for someone with the ability and confidence to use their own initiative and prioritise tasks. The post holder must possess excellent communication skills and relevant administrative experience, must be flexible and have attention to detail.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide support to our clinical colleagues with administrative tasks by providing front line support both face to face and over the telephone.
  • Support clinical and managerial staff, building effective working relationships and responding to queries raised by patients, relatives, GP’s or other health‑care professionals.
  • Perform telephone calls and face to face contact with patients, managing distressing situations with empathy and reassurance.
  • Record accurate messages and follow them up appropriately in accordance with department guidelines, ensuring the timely and accurate recording of all activity across services.
  • Record and handle confidential/sensitive information between staff, patients and carers, safeguarding data protection and confidentiality.
  • Assist with administrative tasks on behalf of multidisciplinary clinical staff and managers, ensuring a professional, efficient, friendly and polite manner.
  • Provide cover as part of a team approach to ensure absence cover across all services/locations, including occasional relocation for cover.
Working hours

Thursday and Friday 9 am to 5 pm. Training may take place on days outside the listed hours.

Key prerequisites & skills
  • Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Positive and compassionate approach to patient care, able to interact with patients who may be hostile, abusive or aggressive.
  • Strong emphasis on safeguarding confidentiality and data protection.
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and prioritise tasks.
