The Borgen Project believes that leaders of the most powerful nations on earth should be doing more to address global poverty. The national campaign is working to make poverty a focus of U.S. and U.K. foreign policy.

The Borgen Project is an international organisation that works at the political level to improve living conditions for people impacted by war, famine, and poverty.

With 20 years of experience in advocacy, The Borgen Project has supported the passage of numerous bills benefiting close to 500 million people in developing countries.

Nonprofit Leadership Programme

This role provides insight into key skills required to lead and develop a nonprofit organization. It is a part-time, 12-hour per week, 12-week unpaid remote programme. If your availability is limited, you can work ahead and complete the programme in fewer weeks.

Programme Components:
  1. Advocacy Leadership Development: Meet with government members in your district; represent The Borgen Project at various events; mobilize individuals to contact their government representatives in support of poverty-reduction legislation.
  2. Fundraising Development: Learn how to fundraise; create a personal fundraising campaign and meet targets.
  3. Recruitment: Update job postings; inform groups about openings; learn about recruitment platforms; observe interviews.
  4. Marketing and Promotion: Pitch story ideas to media; utilize social media; develop web messaging strategies.

Experience: No prior experience necessary. We seek individuals passionate about fighting poverty and advocating for change, regardless of GPA or background.

Details: This is an unpaid internship; college credit may be available.

Start Date: New programmes begin each month. You can select your preferred start month.
