Job summary

A community support organization is seeking a Volunteer Recovery Support in Greater London. This volunteer role requires at least two days a week commitment, providing vital support in treatment and recovery journeys. Overview

RISE is the substance misuse service for adults residing in Ealing Borough who wish to address their drug and/or alcohol issues. As RISE continues to increase its provision of access and support for individuals with complex mental health conditions, a vacancy has arisen for a Volunteer Recovery Support. They will need to have a specialism in Complex Dual Diagnosis (Co-existing Mental Health and Substance Use).

The Dual Diagnosis Team for Ealing RISE supports service users dealing with:

  • complex co-existing mental health and substance use conditions
  • addressing their substance misuse issues
  • using assertive in-reach, multi-agency partnership working & treatment plans
  • a dedicated pathway of care

You will support Team members with their caseload of clients with complex Co-existing Mental Health and Substance Use disorders, who have compounding issues and/or other needs; including:

  • non-compliance or engagement with support services neurodevelopmental conditions
  • learning disabilities
  • challenging personality disorders
  • poor physical health
  • lack of community &/or family support
  • unsuitable living conditions
  • challenges from multiple services involvement safeguarding or exploitation concerns
Responsibilities
  • You will work as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team of Recovery Practitioners, Doctors, Nurses, Psychiatrists, and Psychologists, to deliver high quality provision from point of entry into RISE.
  • Support the clients treatment/recovery journey.
  • Provide support to Team members with screening, assessment, pharmacological support, psychosocial support - cognitive & behavioural based interventions motivational interviewing interventions.
  • Recovery planning and onward referral.
  • Reducing drug and alcohol related harm to service users & the wider community.
  • Promoting carer, service user & community involvement.

You will need to work flexibly across the local community with hours to suit service need. The team is peripatetic rather than hub based so all team members work in a variety of venues, including: Substance Misuse Hubs, Community Mental Health Services, GP Surgeries, and Supported Accommodations.

We will support you in this volunteering role by ensuring that you receive regular supervision, Reflective Practice / Clinical Supervision and have a Team member on site who you can approach for day-to-day advice and guidance.

Eligibility and Requirements
  • 18 years of age or older.

  • Subject to a (CGL funded) Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an enhanced level.
