Contract

Jan 2026‑March 2027 (0.3 FTE) Salary £28,000 pro rata

Working Locations and Times

Working both at our sites in Granton and Bruntsfield and remotely.

Working times are varied throughout the week and are based around our weekly team meetings, Wednesday workshops in Granton, Friday and Saturday open days at Bruntsfield.

Overview

Pianodrome has seen a growing interest in volunteering from people of all backgrounds. However, with limited staff capacity and infrastructure, we are not currently able to support this demand effectively. We often miss opportunities to engage people who could benefit most—especially those from harder‑to‑reach or marginalised groups. This role will enable us to recruit a wider and more diverse volunteer base and put in place systems to support and retain them, improve communication, offer personalised induction and support, and help volunteers find roles that are meaningful and rewarding to them. This will also allow us to match staff and volunteers more effectively, ensuring collaborative, well‑supported working relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage and recruit new volunteers
  • Ensure the volunteer offer is inclusive, accessible, and responsive to community needs
  • Induct volunteers and provide clear, supported pathways for volunteer development
  • Create and maintain a system for logging volunteer experience
  • Ensure events and workshops are adequately resourced
  • Work with staff so they can make best use of the volunteer pool
  • Take part in workshops and events alongside volunteers
  • Help promote volunteers’ voices within the company
  • Keep volunteers up to date with opportunities
Person Specification – Essential
  • Volunteering experience
  • Clear, empathic communicator who can work with a range of people
  • Well organised and able to create and maintain databases
  • Able to work occasional Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and attend team meetings at least once per month
Person Specification – Desirable
  • Experience working in the creative arts
  • Knowledge of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion processes
  • Familiarity with Pianodrome
  • Social media and digital content skills
