Job description

My Client in Doncaster is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a supportive and experienced team. This role offers a great work-life balance with a four-day working week and no out-of-hours or bank holiday commitments. There is only a light weekend commitment of approximately one in eight Saturday mornings, with time off in lieu given and they are also open to part-time applicants and can tailor the role to suit your availability and professional interests.
The team is made up of eight friendly vets with a broad range of interests, including certificate holders in medicine, surgery, and diagnostic imaging. Whether you're early in your career or more experienced, you’ll find plenty of support and encouragement to grow. They work across two well-equipped sites, one of which is a hospital. Both sites offer consulting, surgical, and laboratory facilities. Out-of-hours services are provided by VetsNow, who attend overnight at the main hospital site, ensuring continuity of care for inpatients.
They can adapt the role to reflect your clinical interests and strengths. If you're passionate about surgery, they offer a diverse caseload including cruciate and patella surgeries, laparoscopic procedures, and BOAS surgery.
For those interested in medicine, they are well-equipped to manage the majority of cases in-house using tools such as Imagyst, ultrasound, dental radiography, endoscopy, and i-STAT. Hospital shifts include a rewarding mix of inpatient care, emergency cases, consulting, and routine surgery. If you prefer a varied role that includes a little of everything, the rota can be tailored to accommodate that too.
The salary for this role ranges from £35,000 to £65,000, depending on your level of experience, with flexibility for those holding additional certificates or significant expertise. Well-behaved pets are always welcome at work, because we believe they’re part of the team too.
Additional benefits include a standard four-day working week for full-time vets, with flexible options for part-time hours. Saturday mornings are limited to roughly one in eight, and include time off in lieu. Professional memberships including RCVS, VDS, and one other are covered. CPD is strongly supported and funded, and they are happy to support further qualifications such as certificates.
You’ll also receive five weeks of annual leave, with no bank holidays to work, and options to buy or sell holiday depending on your personal needs. The benefits package includes enhanced pay for sickness, maternity, paternity, shared parental leave, adoption, and surrogacy, as well as a Healthshield cash plan and a cycle-to-work scheme.
If you're looking for a veterinary role that offers flexibility, clinical variety, and a genuinely supportive team, we’d love to hear from you.
