Job description

I’m helping a client in their search for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their excellent team in the Borough of Lewisham. This is a full-time, permanent position offering the opportunity to work in a vibrant and well-equipped practice that prides itself on high clinical standards and a supportive team culture.

This role follows a four-day working week with one in six full weekends at the 24-Hour Hospital close by. It’s an ideal position for someone with a particular interest or experience in ultrasound, although all areas of expertise are welcome.

You’ll be joining a skilled and friendly team of three vets, one who is currently completing a surgery certificate and has a special interest in exotic pets. The practice is further supported by an exceptional nursing team, a dedicated front-of-house, and an experienced Practice Manager — allowing clinicians to focus on what they do best: providing outstanding patient care.

The practice itself is modern, bright, and spread across three spacious floors. It features digital x-ray, an in-house laboratory, ultrasound facilities, three consultation rooms, two theatres, and a well-equipped prep area. There’s also a comfortable staff room for you to unwind in between consultations.

Located in South London, it offers fantastic transport connections with easy access to Central London via the London Overground, Thameslink, and Southern Rail lines.

Please note that this position is offered as a maternity cover contract.

This role includes an attractive benefits package with private medical insurance and a health cash plan from day one, covering dental, physio, and optical services, as well as access to a 24/7 private GP. Life assurance is provided at three times your salary, and you’ll receive five weeks of annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to six weeks with length of service, along with an additional paid “Day for You.”

You’ll also have access to £1,500 annual CPD funding with three days of paid study leave, internal CPD and Clinical Communities, and fully funded certificate opportunities. Professional fees for the VDS, RCVS, and BVA are covered, and they offer sabbatical options based on service length. Full support for Certificates of Sponsorship for a Tier 2 (General) Visa and relocation if required.
