A small animal veterinary practice in the UK is seeking a skilled veterinary surgeon to join their experienced team. You will have the chance to handle a variety of medical and surgical cases in a supportive environment that values continuous professional development. The practice offers a competitive salary, a flexible working schedule with no out-of-hours work, and plenty of opportunities for training and growth. Join a dedicated team passionate about animal health and client care and enjoy numerous benefits, including generous holiday leave and support for professional memberships.
Sharing our passion and commitment for high standards will ensure you thrive within this role. With a confident and capable approach, the team would love someone who could bring new ideas and ambition to the team, as they are always looking for ways to improve. As a Practice we are inclusive, embracing a supportive and non-judgemental environment. You will ideally have experience in surgery and be willing to undergo further training so you can help drive us forward as a team and a practice as a whole.
Pets just see people. They aren't biased and they don't discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don't perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
Based in a well-established and thriving Pets at Home store for 10 years, we have a large and loyal client following which provides a large breadth of case material across a range of small animal species. We're a modern, purpose-built and fully equipped practice with digital x-ray, dental x-ray, laparoscopy, ultrasound, full in-house lab, separate dog, cat and exotics kennel wards and fully equipped operating theatre. At Vets4Pets, you will of course receive help from the support centre but what truly makes it special is that we are a locally owned practice supporting our local community. This gives all our practice owners the opportunity to put their stamp on their practices and shape the care we deliver with full clinical autonomy. We are growing all the time and seeing a variety of interesting surgical and medical cases, because of this we are now looking for a veterinary surgeon to join our existing team of 4 veterinary surgeons, 8 qualified veterinary nurses, 1 trainee veterinary nurse, 1 veterinary nursing assistant and 5 receptionists supported by Serina, our practice manager.
What makes this role different for you Matt, our practice owner, has a wealth of knowledge in medicine with over 22 years qualified experience and he is supported in practice by the Head Vet (also full-time) who has 25 years of experience. This offers you an amazing and somewhat unique supportive environment to learn a multitude of new skills and knowledge. Matt is also very passionate about the development of his team so highly encourages all his colleagues to undertake training, so you will be given a generous CPD allowance and the opportunity to have certificates funded!
The practice runs on 3 vets per day, offering lots of support with 2 vets consulting and 1 vet dedicated to surgery. The position can be full or part time hours and with no OOH, we hope you'll enjoy a rota that suits your lifestyle. As a practice we understand that work life balance is important to you, so we offer this role with a flexible rota, as well as 15‑minute consults as standard with "catch up" time built into the diary. You will have a protected lunch break and dedicated admin time for your telephone calls etc.
