Job summary

A veterinary practice in Warrington is seeking a Veterinary Care Assistant Apprentice for a full-time role working 40 hours per week, including weekends. This 18-month fixed term apprenticeship offers training towards a Level 2 qualification in Animal Care and Welfare. Are you a looking to kick start your veterinary career? At Warrington Riverside Vets for Pets, we’re offering an exciting opportunity to join our team as Veterinary Care Assistant Apprentice working towards a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Animal Care and Welfare.

This is a full‑time role working 40 hours per week including 1 in 2 weekends, for a fixed term of 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Working alongside vets, vet nurses, and reception staff.
• Keeping the practice clean, tidy, and organised.
• Feeding and monitoring in‑patients.
• Running clinical tests.
• Handling a variety of small animals.
• Helping set up for operations.
• Deep cleaning all areas.
• Speaking to clients on the phone and in person.

Apprenticeship Eligibility Requirements

• Must have lived in the UK and/or EU for 3 years prior to apprenticeship start date.
• Not be undertaking another apprenticeship at the same time.
• Not be in full time education.
• Pass your initial probation period.

As part of this apprenticeship, you will be required to complete a Level 2 English and Maths functional skills qualification. If you have already achieved GCSEs in English and Maths at Level 4 (grade C) or above, you will not need to complete the functional skills element of this apprenticeship.

Qualifications & Training

The successful candidate will be enrolled onto a Level 2 apprenticeship in Animal Care and Welfare. At the enrolment stage, the individual’s eligibility will be checked by the training provider. Candidates need to ensure they do not have pre‑existing qualifications at the same or higher level in a similar subject as the apprenticeship.
