An independent engine specialist in Grays is looking for a detail-focused Vehicle Engine Specialist. You will be responsible for stripping, inspecting, and rebuilding engines in a quality-first environment. Vehicle Engine Specialist – Grays, Essex

Salary: £30k - £50k depending on experience

Hours: Monday – Friday 08:00 – 18:00 (No Weekends)

If you’re a detail-focused, mechanically minded engineer with a passion for engines – this is the role for you.

We’re working with an independent specialist business based in Grays that’s known for excellence. Due to continued demand, they’re looking to add to their skilled team.

You’ll work with a team of very skilled technicians with a guarantee of variety and challenge daily.

This position would suit someone with proven mechanical skills – and the ability of removing and replacing car engines.

Key Responsibilities of the engine specialist:
  • Strip, inspect, assess, remove rebuild, and fit engines
  • Diagnose faults and report findings in detail
  • Work from technical drawings and engine schematics
  • Maintain accurate build records and measurements
  • Operate specialist measuring tools and test equipment
  • Support engine dyno testing and running-in sessions
Requirements:
  • Hands-on experience in engine building – automotive, motorcycle or motorsport
  • Understanding of ignition systems (magneto/coil)
  • Able to manage own workload and hit deadlines
  • Superb attention to detail – this is a quality-first environment
  • A team player who values precision over volume
