Job description
Role Summary

The Youth Worker role will involve working alongside our youth work team, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality youth work in Didcot, and building long‑lasting positive relationships with the young people who access our various provisions.

Job Location

Didcot and Wallingford.

Your role will be supported by the Youth Work Manager and you will report directly to them.

The Youth Worker will support the youth work team to deliver high‑quality youth work in Didcot and to build positive relationships with young people accessing our provisions. This includes street‑based, outreach, LGBTQ+, young women's and men's groups, participation, holiday programmes and a regular open‑access youth club.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of various youth work provisions in Didcot as part of the delivery team, modelling high standards of inclusive, empowering and trauma‑informed practice.
  • Develop a strong and bounded rapport with the young people accessing TRAIN's provisions.
  • Assist in the preparation, delivery and administration of sessions as required.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all the young people accessing TRAIN, including adherence to policy and procedures.
  • Enable young people to develop new skills through positive opportunities and participation.
  • Help young people recognize and articulate their own needs and develop strategies to meet them together with the team.
  • Actively participate in continuous professional development and training opportunities.
  • Contribute to the wider team by bringing new ideas, supporting, and challenging colleagues.
  • Participate in regular one‑to‑ones with your line manager.
  • Align to the general ethos and practices of TRAIN.
  • Support young people on their journey through TRAIN's participation pathway, helping them access new opportunities and reach their full potential.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the other members of our youth work team.
  • Ensure your delivery is compliant with relevant legal, regulatory and safeguarding standards, and with TRAIN's policies and procedures.
