Job Purpose

The post-holder will provide strategic leadership in digital access to the Library’s unique and distinctive collections to maximise research, learning, and knowledge exchange locally, nationally, and internationally.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Articulate and deliver an ambitious vision for collections discovery and access.
  • Develop and progress a roadmap based on user expectations, interpreting technology potential and understanding the University’s information landscape.
  • Lead the development of a comprehensive digital library infrastructure and coordinate the Archives and Special Collections (ASC) collection management ecosystem, considering key relationships across the University and beyond.
  • Develop and implement a digital access strategy and policy to deliver the University’s unique content online to a global audience.
  • Lead, support, and develop staff, ensuring professional standards and quality outputs.
  • Support digital humanities partnerships centered around ASC collections, leveraging expertise.
  • Build networks and engage with stakeholders internally across teams and externally through partnerships and funding opportunities.
  • Represent the University at national and international conferences and meetings, and participate in external professional networks and initiatives within the Higher Education sector.
  • As a member of the ASC Senior Management Team, develop an engaged and effective team to deliver high-quality services to the University community and beyond.
