Job summary

A regional healthcare provider in York is seeking an experienced Urgent Care Practitioner to join a dedicated team at Selby Urgent Treatment Centre. Candidates should possess qualifications in Minor Illness and Injuries, be capable of delivering safe and effective care, and have a background in nursing with at least 3 years of experience. The position offers a salary range of £47,810 to £54,710 per annum, pro rata. Full-time, in-person interviews are required as remote options are not available.

Urgent Care Practitioner

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Experienced Urgent Care Practitioner to join our small friendly team at Selby Urgent Treatment Centre. We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible, reliable and friendly individual who is passionate about patient care. You will have the ability to communicate effectively with clinicians, patients and support staff. You will be a highly valued member of an excellent team of existing practitioners and nursing staff.

Interviews for this position will be held face to face only with no remote option available.

Main duties of the job

You will be a independent practitioner acting within your professional boundaries, you will work autonomously, You Will deliver safe, effective clinical decision-making and expert quality care, including assessment, diagnosis, clinical management and evaluation to the local population. You will have the attitude, skills and knowledge base to deliver quality holistic care and treatment.

You will be qualified in Minor illness and Minor injuries and be a non medical prescriber or be willing to do non medical prescribing course within your first year.

It is an exciting time to join the time as we embark on service improvements focusing on clinical pathways to ensure that urgent care is delivered to the local community when they need it.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications and Training
  • Level 1 Registered Nurse
  • Minor Injuries qualification Educated to degree level or demonstrable equivalent experience (approx. 3years experience)
  • Recognised teaching / assessing course
  • NMP if required by needs of the service
Experience and Knowledge
  • Awareness of current issues in health care and Standards of Professional Practice
  • Service development and / or change management
  • Specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and clinical experience
  • Audit and Standard setting
  • Experience obtained in an Emergency department or similar setting.
Skills and Attributes
  • Ability to organise and prioritise.
  • Ability to effectively delegate to others
  • Competent in specialist skills appropriate to the role e.g. interpretation & management of abnormalities identified on X Rays.
