Overview

THIS IS AN UNPAID VOLUNTEERING ROLE.

Role Title: Principal Capacity Building Officer

Role Nature: Volunteer

Location: Home-based

The Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI) is an international think-tank supporting and advocating the application of blockchain technology in the global fight against climate change.

We are seeking dedicated volunteers who bring a strategic mindset to their work, foster strong professional relationships, and cultivate growth opportunities for the organization. As a key member of the Learning & Development Officer (LO) Grade, the Principal Learning and Development Officer will provide support to the Directorship in the Capacity Building Division.

This is an unpaid voluntary role, as with all positions at BCI.

Responsibilities
  • Background in learning design or the development of corporate education
  • Must have a strong pedagogical understanding for the basis of well-designed education products
  • Team player
  • Willing to go the extra mile
  • Excellent oral communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships
  • Strong English writing skills
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to balance competing demands under pressure and able to communicate this well
General & Specialist Knowledge
  • Strong interest in topics central to BCI, such as climate change, climate finance and blockchain technology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems like Moodle or willingness to learnfast
  • Tech savvy
  • Interest in BCI core topics such as climate change, climate finance, and blockchain technology
Education & Training
  • Degree or professional training in Online Learning Design, Learning and Development, or Online Learning
  • Additional knowledge in Climate Change or Environmental Science preferred
Relevant Experience
  • Demonstrated ability in organization/business administration
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively to drive projects forward
Skills & Abilities
  • Proficient in MS Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Excellent communication skills

Selection Process

As a voluntary organization, we are pleased to open the door for candidates who may not have the prior experience they need to start, progress, or switch their careers. To recruit the most suitable, talented, or potential new members out of the volume of applications received, it is the BCI’s policy to also consider inexperienced candidates to fill our voluntary unpaid roles as long as they can demonstrate the skills required in the written assessment. In the selection process, most candidates will be invited to complete the following assessment.

Section A: Verbal and Numerical Reasoning (20 multiple-choice questions)

Section B: Situation Judgement Test (20 multiple-choice questions)

Section C: In-Tray Exercise (An open-ended assessment relevant to the duties of the role)

Candidates who pass all three sections will be invited to attend a phone screening, first interview, and final interview online.
