Job summary

A leading financial institution is seeking a full-time UNIX practice leader based in Sheffield. The role involves managing a global team, improving efficiency through automation, and driving DevOps practices. Ideal candidates will possess substantial UNIX expertise, programming skills in Shell Scripting and Python, and a strong understanding of Veritas systems. Qualifications

  • Substantial experience with expert-level knowledge of RedHat 6 / 7 / 8 / 9.
  • Excellent programming skills ideally in Shell Scripting and Python.
  • Proven experience in managing relationships with developers management and infra-SMEs.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Veritas Volume Manager and Veritas Cluster Server.
  • Good practical knowledge of networks and ideally the Linux kernel.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a global virtual team of 20-30 infra-UNIX FTEs ensuring best practices.
  • Improve team efficiency by automating manual tasks and championing Agile and DevOps.
  • Act as an escalation point for unresolved UNIX issues.
  • Collaborate to deliver MSS infrastructure goals.
  • Oversee compliance with security standards and quality controls.
  • Drive the evolution of Hashicorp Vault and make tech adoption decisions.
  • Collaborate effectively with all stakeholders including senior management.
