Job Title: Undergraduate Submarines Mechanical Engineer

Location: Barrow (Cumbria)

Start date: 22 June 2026

Length of contract: 12 months

Working pattern: We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however for this role you will be expected to attend your site 3-5 days per week.

Qualification requirements

As a minimum requirement you'll need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive or Structural Engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Designing, developing and modelling complex systems, components and products
  • Supporting build, test, commissioning and in service operation
  • Areas include: Gearbox; Turbines (Main Engines, Turbo-Generators); Condenser/Heat Exchangers; Ocean Interfaces; Ventilation and Atmosphere Control (e.g. oxygen production and carbon dioxide removal); Survival Systems (e.g. firefighting and emergency breathing systems)
