Responsibilities
  • Develop the competences needed to teach and deliver your skills and knowledge to our students. You will be supported to grow in this role and will be provided a mentor to guide you day to day.

  • Qualified to Level 3 in Site Carpentry or Bench Joinery with industry experience.
  • Passion for developing students\' employability skills, including English and Maths.
  • Previous teaching experience is not essential; appropriate support will be provided to develop teaching competences.

About the College

We are a large, regional college serving York and North Yorkshire with a population of more than one million people. Each year we educate around 4,000 school leavers, 1,000 apprentices, 2,000 adult learners, and 400 higher-level students. Our education options span from entry level programmes through degrees, higher technical qualifications, and professional courses. Our apprenticeships cover levels 2 to 5 across various pathways. We are the largest provider of A-Level and vocational programmes for school leavers in the region and offer numerous A-Level subjects and vocational courses, including many T-Level pathways. We are part of a consortium of colleges and employers developing the Yorkshire and Humber Institute of Technology (IoT) to increase higher-level technical skills for employers. Salary and Benefits
  • Salary: Up to £41,313 per annum (subject to experience and qualifications).
  • Progression beyond point 12 of the salary scale (£38,465) is subject to Tutors obtaining QTLS. Staff with Advanced Teacher Status (ATS) via the Society for Education and Training (SET) may be eligible for an enhanced salary of £42,738.
  • 57 days annual leave per year (including bank holidays and efficiency closures).
  • Generous Occupational Pension Scheme.
  • Financial support towards teacher training course fees if you do not have a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification (Cert Ed/PGCE) – up to £7,000 over two years.
