This post is ideal for candidates who have a minimum of 4 years broad experience in anaesthesia and critical care and have a postgraduate qualification equivalent to the FRCA (Royal College on Anaesthetists, UK). Experience in managing a wide range of anaesthetic and critical illness scenarios is essential, including responding appropriately to deteriorating patients in the emergency department, hospital wards and peri-operative areas.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited for the role of Trust Specialist Registrar in anaesthesia and critical care, which will incorporate cross site working. You will be joining a dynamic and friendly directorate with a high regional and national profile.

Job responsibilities

The advertised posts offer excellent clinical experience with a wide and varied acute case mix, both within Theatres and Intensive Care Unit in close liaison with Consultants. This post will offer opportunity to develop and work towards achieving your Consultant posts, or Staff Grade doctors wishing to build experience or develop a progression to Consultant posts.

You will be required to support a 24/7 service across Anaesthetic/ITU and will be required to participate in the day to day management of our ECU unit which manages higher risk surgeries

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years broad anaesthetic experience and a postgraduate qualification acceptable to the RCoA.
  • Experience in managing a wide range of anaesthetic and critical illness scenarios including responding appropriately to deteriorating patients in the emergency department, hospital wards and perioperative areas ? Advanced Life Support certification
Professional Requirements
  • Demonstrate Possession of a basic medical qualification acceptable to the GMC for registration. ? Completion of at least one year in an internship post. ? Provision of evidence of having worked for a minimum of 3 years out of the last 5 years in anaesthesia outside the European Union, including the most recent 12 months. ? Provision of evidence of good standing from the applicant\'s local medical regulatory council.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of English by obtaining an overall score of 7.5, with minimum scores of 7.0 in speaking, listening, reading and writing. In the \'Academic\' test of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). ? Eligibility for PLAB exemption. ? Provision of two structured, supportive references from supervising consultants, both of whom must have worked with the applicant within the last five years. ? Provision of evidence of a postgraduate qualification acceptable to the RCoA

  • Appropriate knowledge and practical skills to recognise and manage high risk patients presenting for anaesthesia. ? Ability to manage critically ill patients
