Job summary

A regional healthcare provider is seeking an enthusiastic Trust Grade doctor at ST3 level or above to join their Vascular Surgery department in Nottingham. Job Summary

NUH is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Trust Grade doctor at ST3 level or above to support our Vascular Surgery department. This role provides excellent experience in vascular surgery with exposure to emergency and elective services. You will work closely with consultants, other junior doctors and multidisciplinary teams.

Main duties

The NUH Vascular department is the regional tertiary referral unit for complex vascular (including endovascular) referrals and emergencies. Responsibilities include performing complex vascular surgery, working closely with Interventional Radiology colleagues, attending MDTs, and supporting the 1:8 on‑call rota at QMC. The post holder should have completed core surgical training (or equivalent), hold full MRCS, ALS and have NHS experience.

Job responsibilities

Post holder will support various aspects of the busy service with a commitment to an out‑of‑hours rota, attend clinics, theatre sessions and ward rounds according to a weekly timetable. You will also participate in the local teaching programme, audit and research projects, and may map experiences to core curriculum competencies. Key responsibilities include:

  • Build upon postgraduate clinical experience and master procedural techniques.
  • Further develop expertise in managing sick patients and a variety of conditions.
  • Hone communication skills with patients, relatives and colleagues.
  • Progress toward independent practice at Registrar level, leading ward rounds and making decisions with consultant supervision.
  • Develop skills in managing time and conflicting priorities.

  • Completion of key competencies equivalent to at least CT/junior registrar level
  • Experience working out of hours with limited support
  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit/quality improvement
  • Able to work the full range of shifts (days, nights, lates, on‑calls) and travel to other sites if necessary
