Urology Specialty Registrar – Barts Health NHS Trust

We are looking to appoint a Specialty Registrar in Urology (ST3+). The Specialty Registrar role is a 12-month contract, working mainly at Newham University Hospital. There are on-call commitments across one of our network hospitals (Whipps Cross Hospital). A pay banding supplement is payable for participation in the on-call rota at middle grade level.

Bart’s Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK and offers comprehensive service covering the full range of patients across the Urology Network. Newham University Hospital is part of the Barts Health Department of Urology and serves designated GIRFT High Volume Low Complexity Urological Surgery for East London, including patients from Homerton Hospital and the Barts Health Hospitals.

Responsibilities
  • The post-holder will be expected to participate fully in the clinical work of the Department, providing high standards of care for both in-patients and outpatients.
  • The duties of the post will support both Out-Patient activities and in-patient care of patients of the Unit in line with SAC directives regulating SpR training activities.
  • The duties of the post may change from time to time to reflect those needs.
  • Supporting Foundation School trainees
  • Involvement in Out Patient Clinics
  • Involvement in the operating lists
  • On call for the management of urological emergencies as part of the Middle Grade Registrar of the Week Rota and out of hours rota (out of hours patients seen initially by the general surgical SHO on-call and referred to the middle grade urology cover who is on-call from home).
Experience and Opportunities
