Contract Personnel are seeking a Transport Supervisor in & around Swaffham! We are working with a thriving business that is expanding.
Role Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to the company’s vision, values, policies, and procedures.
- Act as deputy in the absence of the Logistics Manager.
- Maintain vehicle and driver compliance with Operator licence, site, EU, and other legal requirements, and work to improve the working environment.
- Conduct risk assessments on customer premises for major changes or new business, as advised by the account team.
- Respond promptly to requests from other departments and drivers, providing reasonable and efficient solutions.
- Maintain stock levels necessary for business continuity, including driver defect books, tacho rolls, windscreen cleaner, and uniforms.
- Ensure drivers deliver customer service that meets agreed service levels.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance plans and ensure documentation complies with health and safety regulations.
- Achieve route optimisation savings, ensure profitability, and minimize the use of agency drivers.
- Investigate and resolve logistics issues using current systems (e.g., FTA Vision, TMS2, Telematics, Dynamics, GLAD, SOL), focusing on improving routes, service quality, and efficiency.
- Lead and develop personnel, managing absence, disciplinary actions, PDRs, infringements, grievances, health and safety training, and driver assessments, using SMART objectives.
- Develop and monitor budgets in collaboration with the Logistics Manager, investigating variances.
- Contribute to environmental impact reduction through route efficiency and economy.
- Ensure driver compliance with EN14065 standards, including daily vehicle disinfection.
- Meet Service Agent KPIs related to service quality, business retention, and growth.
Candidate Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive attitude, flexibility, and quick reaction to customer needs.
- Ability to influence and lead team members effectively.
- Strong attention to detail, data analysis, and interpretation skills.
- Organizational skills to ensure timely task completion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with lean (Six Sigma) implementation (preferred).
- Valid HGV 2 licence or UK Driver’s License with at least 1 year of experience (preferred).
- CPC qualification.
- Previous supervisory experience of 2-3 years (desirable but not essential).
- GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English or vocational equivalent.
- Experience with health and safety regulations.
- No more than 6 points on driving license.
