Job description

Overview

We are looking for a Transport Shift Manager to join our team for a 6-month contract. The successful applicant will be responsible for the management of the day-to-day transport operation, providing leadership and motivation for the team. Ensuring the site meets its daily performance target and weekly KPIs, whilst delivering an efficient and effective service to the customer within budget. Shifts are rotating 06:00 to 14:00 and 14:00 to 22:00, with any 5 from 7.

What will you contribute?

• Line management of Transport Operators and Drivers: ensuring that all colleagues are fully trained and legally compliant. Managing hours, infringements, pay issues and training
• To liaise with other departments and manage the customer relationship. Ensure communication is effective, and issues are highlighted and dealt with in a timely manner
• Promote good health, safety and environmental practices and challenge poor performance
• Collation and input of statistical information for various reports
• Ensure fleet is fully legally compliant, managing servicing program and repairs through agreed partners
• Ensure the disciplinary, grievance and absence procedures are delivered in line with company policy maintaining respect for the individual, consistency and confidentiality

What will you bring?

• Experience within a transport/busy operational environment, confident working towards tight deadlines and on your own initiative
• Demonstrable experience of leading and developing a team
• Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Well organised with an attention to detail
• Excellent Transport knowledge of current EU and Working Time regulations
• A positive and flexible attitude to work being reliable and punctual
• Previous experience/knowledge of Transport Management systems
