Transport Planner – MQP

Location: Whitwick

Salary: £28,000 - £31,000

Hours: 40 per week

We are looking for a Transport Planner to play a key role in delivering efficient logistics operations and high levels of customer service at MQP. This role is responsible for coordinating internal and external transport activities, managing orders, and supporting the smooth flow of production and deliveries. Coordinate internal and external transport operations to support customer commitments and production demands. Plan, optimise, and manage transport schedules to ensure efficiency and cost control.

What You’ll Do
  • Coordinate internal and external shipping and orders.
  • Optimise resource use to meet customer needs.
  • Balance commercial, economic, and quality goals to deliver outstanding service.
  • Identify customer requirements and make the best economic use of the company resource to ensure delivery to the satisfaction of the customer.
  • Negotiate delivery times to the mutual benefit of the customer and the company.
  • Decide delivery priorities in the event of supply issues and liaise with weighbridges.
  • Use forward programme to assess vehicle requirements
  • Negotiate programmes to the mutual benefit of the company and customers.
  • Monitor daily programme and advise the customer of delivery status.
  • Accurately take/amend customer orders.
  • Maintain and update accurate dispatch comments as required.
  • Investigate customer queries.
  • Investigate haulier queries.
  • Ensure use of “desktop text” to update key personnel.
  • Develop relationships and form rapport with customers and internal departments.
  • Manage customer complaints, referring to a third party where appropriate.
  • Order Centre reports as required.
  • Maintain a professional demeanour at all times.
Knowledge And Skills Required
  • Good working knowledge of production processes and operational limitations
  • Strong product knowledge, particularly within asphalt and drystone
  • IT literate, with experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and in‑house systems such as SAP and Syncrotess
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in a similar working environment
