Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: BNL PRODUCTIONS LTDAs a Trainee Video Editor, you will help edit videos for corporate video, social media, events and creative projects. This role is suited to someone who enjoys storytelling through video and has some experience using editing apps or software, even at a basic level. You will receive full training in editing techniques and professional workflows.

Responsibilities
  • Import, organise, and label video footage for editing projects.
  • Assemble clips into coherent, engaging videos that follow the project brief or storyboard.
  • Learn and use video editing software, applying editing techniques and professional workflows.
  • Add music, sound effects, subtitles, and simple graphics to enhance video content.
  • Select appropriate music tracks to match the tone and style of each video.
  • Collaborate with the production team to understand the objectives and creative direction of each project.
  • Make revisions and improvements based on feedback from supervisors or clients.
  • Support basic colour correction and audio adjustments to improve video quality.
  • Manage, archive, and back up media files to maintain an organised workflow.
  • Contribute creative ideas for video content, style, and storytelling approaches.
  • Assist with the care and maintenance of editing equipment when required.
  • Follow deadlines and project schedules to ensure timely delivery of video content.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Basic video editing experience, even using apps or entry-level software.
  • Good attention to detail for accurate editing, timing, and sequencing of clips.
  • Creative awareness and an interest in storytelling through video.
  • Ability to follow instructions and implement feedback effectively.
  • Basic computer skills and confidence using editing software or digital tools.
  • Organisational skills to manage and label media files clearly.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate with the productionteam.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques, software, and workflows.
  • Skills to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks.
  • Experience using professional video editing software such as Adobe PremierePro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Basic knowledge of colour grading, audio editing, or motion graphics.
  • Familiarity with adding subtitles, captions, or simple visual effects.
  • Understanding of social media video formats and trends.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor technical issues with editing software or media files.
  • Experience organising and archiving large volumes of media.
  • Creative thinking and the ability to suggest improvements or alternative editingapproaches.
  • Interest in learning more advanced post-production techniques.
  • Experience working on personal, school, or freelance video projects.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to feedback and changing project requirements.
  • Knowledge of copyright rules and ethical use of music and media content.
  • Team player mindset, able to work collaboratively and support others.
