Elvet Recruitment is proud to be working with a forward-thinking property and energy management company who are looking for a Finance Assistant for their office in the North East.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our team. This is an entry-level position, ideal for someone with a strong interest in finance and accounts. While no formal qualifications are required, previous experience in a finance or accounts role—or a clear passion for starting a career in this field—will be highly valued.

You will work closely with our Finance team to support day-to-day accounting and administrative tasks, helping to ensure smooth and accurate financial operations.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Assist with processing invoices, expenses, and payments
  • Support bank reconciliations and basic bookkeeping (using Xero)
  • Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems
  • Help with credit control and chasing outstanding payments
  • Input data into accounting software and spreadsheets
  • Assist with month‑end procedures and reporting
  • General administrative tasks to support the finance team
What We're Looking For:
  • Proficiency in Xero accounting software (or strong aptitude to learn)
  • A genuine interest in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Willingness to learn and grow within a finance role
  • Prior experience in an office or accounts environment is desirable but not essential
Role Details:
  • Up to £28,000 depending on experience
