A leading supplier of Process Control Solutions is seeking a Trainee Calibration Technician to assist in the calibration of weighers and laboratory scales across the UK and Ireland. The role involves substantial travel and hands-on calibration work, including the lifting of weights. The successful candidate will have a minimum of a grade C in GCSE Maths and English, possess a valid driving license, and show strong teamwork and communication skills.

Job Title: Trainee Calibration Technician

Reporting To: Calibration Manager

Purpose: This position holds responsibility for assisting with the calibration of weighers & laboratory scales in the construction industry within the UK & Ireland.

The company specialise in Concrete Batching Systems and are one of the main suppliers to Acheson & Glover, Aggregate Industries, Breedon, Creagh, FP McCann, Kilsaran, Northstone, Roadstone and Tobermore Paving.

Job Description

This position involves the calibration of Concrete Batching Plants throughout the UK and Ireland. Weights & measures require that the weighers on concrete plants are checked periodically to ensure they are within tolerance. The role is to travel throughout the UK & Ireland working as an assistant to a Calibration Technician to provide this calibration service. The calibration team travel from the office on a Monday morning and return on a Friday evening.

On the job training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements
  • The calibration process requires the lifting of 20Kg weights and placing them onto weigh hoppers.
  • Conduct all duties in a safe and careful manner to ensure the safety of yourself and others
  • Be dependable with good punctuality and time keeping
  • Ability to work methodically with a time efficient approach to tasks
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy of delivery
  • Be solutions focused, with the ability to work safely on your own initiative
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Ability to work away from home, normally from a Monday to a Friday as many systems are located in GB and ROI
  • Ability to work overtime as and when required. Normal working hours 08:30-17:00 Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the job delays can be encountered on site so finishing times can be erratic
  • Ability to help in the other departments throughout the company as and when required
  • Ensure the company vehicles and tools are well looked after.
Skills and Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a full valid driving license.
Travel

As much of the work is outside NI, candidates must be prepared to work away from home, normally Monday to Friday, every other week. Candidates must be able to work outside normal working hours.
