About the Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Buyer to join our Brands team in the London office.

You will start your 12 - 18 month training programme with the high street brands team, looking after key brand accounts!

With support from your team, you will learn the skills required to progress within our Buying function. Responsibility comes early and you will be looking after millions of pounds worth of stock from day one!

You will receive regular feedback from your Buying team who will coach and develop you throughout the scheme, supporting you in reaching your goals.

Once you are ready to take the next step you will be promoted to Assistant Buyer!

The day to day
  • Be the go-to contact for all brands for any queries they might have about their products, from why the product isn’t live on site, to making sure the product looks amazing on site
  • Manage any issues with products, and make sure the team is kept up to date
  • Preparing packs for trade meetings and brand appointments
  • Contributing ideas about key trends that you’re seeing or new brands you’re loving
  • Use your knowledge of relevant trends to find new product initiatives that you believe are missing from the departments current product offering
  • Identify issues that could be causing products from selling and suggesting ways to improve
  • Conduct competitor shop analysis and present findings back to your team to gain an understanding of where Next sits in the market.
  • Make sure all buying systems and records are up to date and accurate
  • Work closely with the trainee merchandiser to analyse daily best/ worst sellers and make recommendations
