Are you a graduate looking to begin a career in teaching? The Future Teachers Programme in Manchester offers a structured two‑year route into the profession – starting with paid school‑based experience and leading directly into a salaried teacher training year.

About the Programme

Designed for graduates who want to explore the teaching profession before enrolling in formal training, this pathway provides hands‑on experience, mentoring, and a guaranteed progression into teacher training.

Year 1: Classroom Experience (Cover Supervisor Role)

• Work in a Manchester secondary school as a Cover Supervisor
• Supervise lessons using work already set by the class teacher
• Gain practical behaviour management and classroom confidence
• No responsibility for planning, marking, or active teaching
• Become familiar with school routines and policies

Year 2: Salaried Teacher Training

• Move into a fully salaried Initial Teacher Training (ITT) position
• Work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Train within the same school or trust for continuity and support
• Receive weekly mentoring and professional development
• Option to complete a PGCE alongside QTS
