Trainee Air Conditioning Engineer

Location: Berkshire Region (with travel to Central London, Bournemouth, Newbury & Reading)

Salary: Up to £45,000 + Company Van & Fuel Card

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (40 hours per week)

The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Air Conditioning Engineer to join a supportive and growing engineering team operating across the South of England. This hands‑on role will involve working on a variety of commercial sites, including office buildings, energy facilities, and smaller local businesses.

You’ll gain valuable experience across a range of air conditioning and refrigeration systems while working both independently and alongside experienced engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service, maintenance, and repair of VRF, multi‑ and single‑split systems, ventilation systems, AHUs/MVHRs, and chillers.
  • Attend to reactive maintenance and general building services tasks.
  • Support with maintenance of domestic services, including electric water heaters, waste pumps, and TMVs.
  • Manage daily travel between client sites (travel time included in working hours).
  • Liaise with clients and supervisors to ensure high‑quality service delivery.
  • Work both independently and in pairs as part of a wider subcontractor team.
About You
  • Ideally hold NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Good knowledge of refrigeration and A/C systems, including fault finding and diagnostics.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Professional, self‑motivated, and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

  • No current call‑out rota.
  • Reporting directly to the Engineering Supervisor.
