A leading staffing and consulting firm is hiring a Trade Desk Support in London. The candidate must have 2-3 years of fixed income experience and a solid understanding of cash trading. This role involves direct support to traders in a fast-paced environment, requiring analytical skills and the ability to respond promptly to trading changes.
Role Overview
We are hiring for a position on the Fixed Income Cash Desk in London, supporting traders across bonds, swaps, futures, CDXs, and rates products. This is a front-office aligned role, sitting directly with traders and acting as a second line of defence in live trading environments.
Candidate Profile
Ideally looking for
2–3 years minimum in fixed income, preferably with exposure to rates
Knowledge in cash trading, swaps, futures, and CDXs
Ability to support daily cash flow, trade booking, and PNL analysis
Key Attributes
Strong understanding of bond mechanics, accrued interest, and SSI
Can explain the difference between a bond and a swap and how each works
Analytical and intuitive—able to perform sanity checks and investigate discrepancies
Comfortable working in a high-touch, fast-paced trading environment
Analyst vs Associate
Analyst: Executes tasks with guidance; needs direction
Associate: Thinks proactively; understands implications of actions and can operate independently
Interview Insights & Evaluation Criteria
Candidates from middle office or settlements often lack the trader mindset
We need individuals who:
Understand live PNL movements
React to trading changes in real time
Investigate and resolve issues without deferring to other teams
A quick test: Can they explain accrued interest and asset swaps clearly and accurately?
Team Structure
Swaps Team: 2 dedicated members (including hiring manager and director)
Cash Side: 4–5 TDS supporting 8 traders on the DCM desk
Money Markets & Repo: 3 traders
The cash business is the largest and most high-touch in London
Office Expectations
5 days/week in-office is the standard
Flexibility for occasional remote work (e.g. deliveries, personal needs)
In-person presence is essential due to proximity to traders and live desk activity
