Job summary

A global manufacturer in Birmingham is looking for a Trade Compliance Manager to oversee all aspects of import and export control. The right candidate should have extensive experience in international transportation, especially in a manufacturing or high tech setting, and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills. This role entails developing compliance procedures, managing export license applications, and ensuring the company meets all regulatory demands effectively.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manage import & export control and trade compliance function.
  • Set and enforce import/export instruction restrictions.
  • Review import and export entries; ensure accuracy of declarations.
  • Monitor compliance with customs regulations and internal audits.
  • Act as primary contact with regulatory authorities.
  • Develop and maintain export compliance procedures.
  • Prepare and manage export license applications.
  • Support internal teams with customs procedures advice.
  • Identify export compliance risks and provide mitigation strategies.

Job description

A highly successful global manufacturer has appointed Vectis Recruitment to exclusively manage the recruitment of a Trade Compliance Manager to join their business. You will manage all aspects of import & export control ensuring international trade compliance whilst implementing new systems and processes. Applicants are sought with a good understanding of international trade compliance gained within a complex manufacturing, engineering or high technology environment.

The Role
  • Lead the company's import & export control and trade compliance function.
  • Set and enforce import/export instruction restrictions and internal control procedures.
  • Review and approve import and export entries as required; ensure accuracy of declarations.
  • Monitor compliance with customs and foreign trade regulations, including recordkeeping, broker governance, and internal audits.
  • Act as the primary contact with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop, implement and maintain export compliance procedures and training programmes.
  • Prepare, submit and manage export licenses applications and maintain accurate records.
  • Support internal teams with advice on customs procedures, import procedures and shipping documentation.
  • Identify and assess any export compliance risks and provide mitigation strategies.
  • Advise internal teams on export regulations and licencing compliance.
The Person
  • Experience in international transportation/customs, preferably gained in manufacturing, engineering or a high technology environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK and EU trade compliance regulations.
  • Good organisational skills; able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a pressurised environment.
  • Computer literate in MS tools such as Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Awareness of global sanctions regimes and screening best practices
