A leading planning consultancy is seeking a Development Management professional in South East London to lead on major applications and engage with stakeholders. The role requires a relevant town planning degree and a solid understanding of UK planning legislation. Offering flexible hybrid working, this position is initially set until March 2026 with a competitive rate of £45/hr.

Job description

We have an excellent opportunity to secure a contract working within one of London's most vibrant Boroughs for development work. The department is very large and they employ a high volume of contractors who are given excellent opportunities to handle their own caseload, lead on certain projects and also have the opportunity to work as part of multidisciplinary teams so it's an excellent opportunity to broaden your experience and further your development management knowledge.

This role sits in our client's Major Team and will require you to lead on smaller major applications and pre-applications along with working on discharging of conditions and legal obligations for some of the Borough's largest schemes. You must have a proven track record of effectively dealing with enquiries from the public, developers, potential developers, other authorities, Council Members and external stakeholders.

To apply you will ideally have recent experience within a local authority development management team, however, consultancy experience is also welcome. A good grasp of UK planning legislation is required and you will need to have good communication skills and a positive attitude towards furthering your knowledge and gaining more technical experience. A relevant town planning degree is required.

The role is based in South East London and will pay £45/hr umbrella. This role is insider IR35. It is initially running until the end of March 2026 with potential for extension.

Our client offers a hybrid working arrangement, you will work from the office twice a week.
