Job description

Toolmaker/ Tooling Engineer

Location: Bridgwater
Hours: Full Time Hours Monday to Friday - Flexi Time
Salary: 35,000 - 37,000 per annum + up to 4% bonus

Key Responsibilities of a Toolmaker/ Tooling Engineer:

  • Manufacture and refurbish tooling to technical drawings using manual and CNC workshop equipment, ensuring delivery to specification, on time, and to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with design teams to interpret engineering drawings and develop new tooling solutions to support evolving products, machinery, and processes.
  • Perform both planned and reactive maintenance on production machinery and facilities equipment; diagnose faults and implement effective repairs to minimise disruption.
  • Provide timely and creative engineering solutions to manufacturing challenges, proposing and implementing innovations to improve tooling and production processes.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workshop environment through proactive housekeeping and strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support process optimisation to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Mentor and support colleagues, including apprentices, and share technical expertise across teams.

Key Skills of a Toolmaker/ Tooling Engineer:

  • Proficient in manual and CNC milling and turning
  • Apprentice-trained engineering qualification or equivalent technical certification
