Overview

We are looking for an experienced Tooling Engineer to support major UK nuclear programmes across submarine systems, power generation, decommissioning projects and high-integrity structures. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on delivering practical, safety-critical solutions and enjoys taking ownership from concept through to manufacture.

What You'll Do
  • Design and develop bespoke tooling systems to support manufacturing operations.
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure tooling is fit for purpose and safe to use.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to existing tooling solutions.
  • Troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analyses and drive corrective actions.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety requirements and nuclear-sector regulations.
What You Bring
  • Degree in Tooling Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong background in tooling design—ideally within nuclear or similarly high-integrity sectors.
  • Experience with mechanical tolerances, materials selection and ergonomic principles.
  • Proficiency in NX11 and Teamcenter.
  • Experience using SAP packages.
  • Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation (design reports, drawings, specifications).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Flexibility to work on-site in Derby when required.
