Job summary

A recognized high volume manufacturer is seeking an experienced Tool Maker to join their tooling department in Shropshire. The role involves preparing and maintaining tooling, identifying issues, and ensuring safety and operational readiness of tools. Applicants should have an apprenticeship and familiarity with die casting processes. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a critical production environment and work with engineering changes in a reputable firm.

Tool Maker - Double Days

A recognised high volume manufacturer are currently looking to strengthen their Tooling department with the appointment of a Tool Maker.

Working from their manufacturing facility in Shropshire, the Tool Maker will be responsible for:

  • Preparation and maintenance of existing tooling according to requirements.
  • Effectively identifying day to day tooling issues and implementing corrective action where required.
  • Cleaning all production tooling to ensure on time delivery and schedule adherence and that goals are met.
  • Ensuring all tooling is safe and production ready at the time returned for production use, following correct preventative maintenance (PM) process.
  • Ensuring Leader is advised when assignments cannot be completed as planned.
  • Supporting coordination of engineering changes and maintaining spare parts.
  • Preparing and testing tools by laying out, setting up and machining.
  • May design, make tools or templates to produce prototype parts of various materials, including generating bill of material and complete fabrication and validation.
  • Verifying conformance of machined and/or repaired tools to specifications by checking dimensions, clearances and alignments.
  • May make parts of various plant machines and tools as required.
  • Fitting and assembling parts and testing completed tools for proper operation.
  • Setting up and carefully monitoring tools and performing inspections prior to removing tooling from the machine.
  • Following up repair work by seeking feedback from the production and quality departments and completing a record of the work undertaken.
  • Promoting the company's HSE policies across the department and plant.

The successful candidate should have a minimum of an Apprenticeship and be familiar with die casting processes.
