TMS Operations Support Manager
Menzies Distribution Solutions are looking for an experienced TMS Operations Support Manager to join our business. The position is directly responsible for the management and deployment of the TMS Operations Support Team. Liaison with head of ops, planning centre managers and sites to drive consistent processes through the use of effective training and support. Working with the TMS Manager to deliver a robust and appropriate TMS solution that meets the business needs. The position requires strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to be commercially aware. Both self-motivation and motivation of team members and wider project members will be key to the candidate success. The position will report to the TMS Manager.

- Location: Home Based but will be required to travel for meetings or projects & must be willing to stay away for periods of time.

Responsibilities
- Control of the TMS Operations Support team, to deliver effective and consistent training, coaching and documentation.
- Develop and build relationships with internal site teams and planners, with the aim of gaining a full understanding of the operations and challenges faced.
- Working with the TMS Manager, developing solutions and integration for new and existing business, ensuring standardization and best practice is implemented.
- Will work closely with key stakeholders, including, Heads of operations, to develop and deliver solutions according to business requirements and client needs.
- Ensuring that a consistent approach to training is followed by the TMS Operations Support Team, that is delivers consistency of experience and knowledge to the users.
- Taking an inclusive approach to continuous improvement by reviewing the operations as a whole and making recommendations to drive efficiency, performance and compliance improvements.
- Developing focussed dashboards and compliance reporting through the use of Cognos, that will deliver effective business tools that can be used to monitor, control, improve and drive corrective action where necessary.
- Monitoring all investigative activity to understand root cause and make sure that corrective and preventative action has been implemented and solutions identified or escalated where necessary.
- Working with the TMS Manager and related systems suppliers, holding regular review meetings to prioritise activities and understand new development or improvements that may bring benefit to our operations.
- Review any potential systems changes, evaluating the benefits, risks and costs of the change against the use of existing functionality.
- Involvement in the testing of both version and development changes, to ensure fit for purpose and to ensure that a robust systems solution is implemented, documented and trained out.
Experience & Key Skills
- At least 10 years of experience in the 3PL environment, with a thorough understanding of logistics processes and supporting systems.
- Ideally has at least 5 years of experience with Microlise TMS solution or has experience of the management of a comparable industry standard TMS product.
- Demonstrates clear and concise communication; interpersonal, organizational and team building skills.
- Has commercial awareness of transport operations and experience of financial controls.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and control multiple project timelines and priorities.
- Has the experience and ability to understand EDI and integration at a moderate level. should have the ability to read EDI specifications & understand mapping and act as an intermediary between the client and the technical support specialist and the TMS vendor.
