Therapy Support Worker - Band 3

We have a new exciting opportunity within our Older People's Unit for a talented Mobility Support Worker to join our dedicated and caring team. The successful applicant will work closely with our patients and make a meaningful and positive contribution to their stay in hospital and their long term recovery.

Main duties of the job

Primary purpose of this post is to enable and support mobility and active routines for patients on the ward relative to each patient's capability and normal routine. Prolonged bed rest in hospital poses significant risk for patients especially our older persons. It can lead to deconditioning and decline in their functional ability and puts them at risk of additional complications such as chest infections, pressure sores and blood clots.

Training and qualification
  • In possession or undertaking the Level 3 NVQ or Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) Health and Social Care Award.
  • Completion of Care Certificate.
Knowledge and experience
  • Understands and committed to a caring approach to patients & relatives.
  • Confident with use of mobility aids -WZF/walking sticks, sara stedy, gutter frames and hoists.
  • Clear knowledge of controls of hospital bed and how to utilise to aid transfer out of bed. (put mattress on firm setting, effective use of bed controls and bed rail, education on appropriate seating and pressure relief)
