Job summary

An established engineering business is seeking a Test Engineer to support the manufacture of bespoke power conversion systems. You will be responsible for testing electrical equipment and ensuring quality compliance. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience and a Level 3 electrical/electronic qualification. This is a permanent full-time role based in Salisbury with a salary ranging from £36,000 to £44,000 dependent on experience.

Qualifications

Test Engineer - Power & Control Systems

Location: Salisbury (SP2)

Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: £36,000 - £44,000 (dependent on experience)

An established engineering business in Salisbury is seeking a Test Engineer to join their growing team, supporting the manufacture of bespoke power conversion and distribution systems used in defence, naval, and industrial applications.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for testing and verifying a range of electrical and electronic equipment - from PCB assemblies to full systems - typically operating between 24V DC and 440V AC. Working from detailed test procedures and drawings, you’ll:

  • Carry out functional testing and verification
  • Use test equipment including DMMs, oscilloscopes, and power supplies
  • Identify and fault‑find issues in both assembly and component stages
  • Support repairs and rework as required
  • Liaise with engineering and production teams to ensure quality and compliance
What We’re Looking For
  • Hands‑on experience testing electrical or electronic systems in a manufacturing environment
  • A Level 3 electrical/electronic qualification (NVQ / ONC or higher)
  • Competence in fault‑finding and soldering
  • Comfortable working with both low and high‑voltage systems
  • Ability to follow technical drawings, schematics, and test documentation
